Hummarabi's Code 2

Hello,

Today all we did in Human Geo was go over some laws in Hummarabi's Code. I am writing this blog now as I am listening to these laws because this weekend I am going to West Virginia and I'm not sure if the hotel is going to have WiFi so I have to do it now. Now that I listen to some of these laws they are very extreme. I still have yet to hear one that involves jail. Most things ended with death and or cutting off a limb. The consequences for people's actions back then were very harsh. I guess they just really wanted to make a point with all of the death that all of the laws were associated. Well anyway I am not really sure what we are gonna do Monday. But for now I am really just focused on getting out of school at noon, so I'm just looking forward to that.

Hummarabi's Code

Hello,

Today in class, first we reviewed all of the slides that we have previously done. Then we went over some new slides and took more notes about Sumer and Hummarabi's Code. Other than that we really didn't do much. Mr. Schick then gave us the rest of the class to do our blog and also to search Hummarabi's Code, find three of our favorite laws and post them on our blog along with many of our notes that we took today. Here are three of my favorite laws that I found online.

-If he has borne false witness in a civil law case, he shall pay the damages in that suit.

-If a man has borne false witness in a trial, or has not established the statement that he has made, if that case be a capital trial, that man shall be put to death.

-If a man has stolen goods from a temple, or house, he shall be put to death; and he that has received the stolen property from him shall be put to death.

What I thought was interesting is that there are a lot of laws that can be applied to today and some that are the same today, most of them are quite harsh however.

Grandparents Day

Hello,

Today in West Civ it was Grandparent's Day. Which was actually fitting because we were talking about Mesopotamia and such, at least this is what Mr. Schick said. Mr. Schick halfway through the class made a joke asking the grandparents if they invented the wheel and used stone tools and things like that. The grandparents didn't find it that funny and I think Mr. Schick felt a bit bad, so maybe his comedy has finally caught up to him haha. Anyway we took a lot of notes in the class and Mr. Schick actually forgot that we had a double mod so we got released early and didn't realize till later seeing that on one was in the cafeteria. But anyway we are taking more notes next class so we will see what else we do.

Starting Western Civ

Hello,

Today in class we started a new topic. By that I mean that we no longer have our old Human Geo class, but now it is Western Civ. We don't have a lot of new people, but we did lose a lot. We lost Grace to Mr. Teter. This was a shame, at least we don't have to hear her rant anymore. This class seems like it's going to be really good. But we haven't really started learning anything. For most of the class I took a Human Geo test that I forgot to take so it was kind of a blast from the past. Anyway I hope that this semester class is really good like the last one was and I expect to bring a soda to almost all of the classes so it should be fun knowing we have a lot of the people that we had last semester, but we shall see.
